Greetings from Himalayan Sathi Tours & Travels! We have prepared this itinerary for your upcoming Sikkim (Gangtok-Lachen-Lachung) and Darjeeling trip. Please review the travel plan and services below and let us know if you would like any changes.
On arrival at NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport, you will be met by our driver who will assist you to board your vehicle to Gangtok. On arrival check into the hotel and enjoy the day at leisure.
GANGTOK: At an altitude of 1750 m, Gangtok is truly a traveller's delight.
Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Lachen (approx. 120 kms), a remote town in North Sikkim that serves as the base for the Gurudongmar Lake excursion. Enjoy scenic views of waterfalls, viewpoints and villages along the Teesta river en route. On arrival, check into the hotel and enjoy the evening amid the mountains.
Early breakfast, then proceed for an excursion to Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world at an altitude of approx. 5,183 m, held sacred by both Buddhists and Hindus. After the excursion, drive onward to Lachung and check into the hotel on arrival.
Note: Gurudongmar Lake permit.
Early breakfast, then a full-day excursion to Yumthang Valley (also known as the "Valley of Flowers"), at an altitude of about 3,564 m — famed for its rhododendron sanctuary, alpine meadows and hot springs, framed by snow-capped peaks. Depending on road conditions and permits, the drive can be extended to Zero Point for closer mountain views. Return to Lachung by evening.
Note: Zero Point extra cost ₹4,000–4,500 (per vehicle).
Breakfast at the hotel, then drive back to Gangtok. On arrival, check into the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Breakfast at the hotel and full-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake), 35 kms from Gangtok at an altitude of 12,400 feet. The lake derives its waters from melting snow off the surrounding mountains. Legends say that lamas could forecast the future by studying the colour of the lake's waters.
Note: Nathula Pass extra cost ₹4,500–5,500 (per vehicle).
Breakfast at the hotel, later proceed to Darjeeling. Darjeeling is a town in India's West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. Once a summer resort for the British Raj elite, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or the "Toy Train," completed in 1881. It's famed for the distinctive black tea grown on plantations that dot its surrounding slopes. Its backdrop is Mt. Kanchenjunga, among the world's highest peaks.
Early morning visit Tiger Hill to see a beautiful sunrise and the Himalayan range, including Kanchendzonga and Mount Everest. One can see the horizon changing colours just before sunrise, and then the entire Himalayan range turns golden. On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery, the oldest monastery in the area, and visit Batasia Loop.
Thereafter, transfer directly to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station in time for your flight/train to onward destination.
